
Tang Soo Do is a Korean styled martial art form offered at Christi's for children ages 4 - 10 years old. This class is designed to teach the basic elements of Tang Soo Do and to present it in an enjoyable and progressive manner. The following is a sample lesson plan to give you an idea of the structure of our Tang Soo Do program:
Classes are 45 minutes in length. Each class begins with a 10 minute warm-up and stretch to prevent injury and soreness. Drills include non-contact kicking, punching, and blocking which focus on proper form. These skills are practiced "in action" during a weekly non-contact sparring session. The class philosophy is based on self control and respect.
Your child will discover many new skills while exploring Tang Soo Do and will develop important coordination and self esteem.
The history of Tang Soo Do: Tang Soo Do is a traditional Korean Martial Art which originated approximately 2,000 years ago in Korea, and has developed into one of the most popular martial arts in the world. Because of its widespread popularity and extreme effectiveness, people refer to Tang Soo Do as "Real Karate". Tang Soo Do is currently being taught in more than twenty countries. Hundreds of thousands of students are participating in its program.
In today's hectic society, there is no doubt that we need a self-defense skill. Equally important are physical fitness and methods for the release of daily stress. Mr. Brian Califf, an Indian River County Sheriff's deputy and 3rd Degree Tang Soo Do Black Belt, owns and operatesTreasure Coast Tang Soo Do. Mr. Califf and his instructors are trained in the latest and most advanced methods of instruction and the most up-to-date techniques of self-defense. His school is certified by the World Tang Soo Do Association and will provide the highest quality martial arts instruction available today.
