USA Gymnastics at Christi's Family Fitness

About USA
USA Gymnastics has the goal of producing elite athletes and runs a program that is geared toward the eventuality of level ten or elite. USAG has policies and rules that "trickle down" from the international community relative to international elite competition. For this reason, the expectations of the athletes are a bit higher in some cases than other organizations. The club program will dictate the abilities of the gymnast more than will the competitive environment.
Scholarships are awarded at many American universities, but the availability has become quite competitive. The first tier of athletes recruited will be International Elite gymnasts, and then trickling down through national elites, national team level 10, national qualifiers level 10, level 10, then level 9. The best overall plan for a gymnast to take is to create sound, effective basics and to progress slowly through level of competition.
Levels Offered
USA Gymnastics (USAG) has ten levels of gymnastics, seven of which are generally competitive.
Compulsories: (Levels 5-6). The athletes learn and compete the same routines with deductions stemming from execution of those skills. The levels graduate in difficulty, with attempts to prepare the athlete for optional level competition.
Optionals: (Levels Prep Opt. - 10). The gymnasts are required to perform certain types of skills to meet requirements. Deductions stem from the types of skills competed (composition), how they are performed (execution), and various other areas of amplitude, expression, etc. These levels are also graduated in difficulty.
